Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Chair and CEO Janno Lieber today attended morning roll call at NYPD Transit District 30 with NYPD Transit Chief Michael Kemper and NYPD Chief of Department Jeff Maddrey to thank officers for their work on Thursday afternoon.

Transit District 30 officers were the first responders on scene for the Thursday shooting that took place onboard a Manhattan-bound  train as it pulled into the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station.

Following roll call, Chair Lieber rode the  line from Hoyt-Schermerhorn to Fulton Center and spoke with riders and transit workers in the system.

“Today is about the passengers and understanding what they are feeling, but it is also about the police. That is why I went to Hoyt-Schermerhorn this morning to say how much we appreciate you,” said Chair Lieber.

Chair Lieber also spoke with National Guard members conducting bag checks at Fulton Center.
