Subway service changes: December 30-January 2

There are service changes across the transit system for New Year's Eve and Day. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated December 30, 2022 9:00 a.m.

That's a wrap for 2022, folks!

If you're heading to Times Square to ring in the new year on Saturday night, keep in mind that exits at the Times Sq-42 St  station may be subject to temporary closures depending on crowding levels. You may want to use nearby stations, including 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal, 42 St-Bryant Park, 50 St, 57 St-7 Av, or 59 St-Columbus Circle.

On Saturday, New Year's Eve, the subway is running on a regular Saturday schedule, with extra service on the  lines. On Sunday, New Year's Day, and Monday, January 2, the subway will run on a Sunday schedule.

For Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North riders visiting the city to celebrate, we're operating extra trains into the city on New Year's Eve, and leaving the city after midnight. Alcohol is not allowed on LIRR and Metro-North trains, platforms, and stations from noon on NYE to noon on New Year's Day.

On Monday, January 2, LIRR will operate on a weekday schedule, with off-peak fares in effect on all trains. Metro-North will operate on a Saturday schedule, with extra trains in the morning and afternoon. Use our free TrainTime app to view your schedule, or see more details here.
