Subway and rail service changes: September 30-October 3

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.
Updated September 30, 2022 2:30 p.m.

Happy weekend! The remnants of Hurricane Ian will blow through our area this weekend, which means planned service changes may be canceled. Watch this space (and our Planned Service Changes lookup tool) for updates.

If you're reading this and are thinking to yourself, "hey, it would be great if I could get these service changes in some other format — maybe as an email? — every week," do we have good news for you. We've launched the MTA Weekender, a newsletter sent every Friday. You'll get the same service changes you know and begrudgingly accept, but in your inbox and with GIFs. If that sounds enticing, you can subscribe right here.

As far as this weekend goes, here are some of the bigger service changes:

  •  trains aren't running to Howard Beach-JFK Airport or the Rockaways
  •  trains are running on the   line between 21 St-Queensbridge and W 4 St-Wash Sq
  •  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av
  •  trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs
  •  trains aren't running in Lower Manhattan

For more detailed breakdowns, keep on scrolling — we’ve also got travel alternatives for stations that will be closed or skipped.

One important post-weekend change to note: Beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 3, the Manhattan-bound   platform at E 149 St will be closed 24/7 through October 17 while we make station improvements. For service to/from E 149 St, take a Pelham Bay Park-bound train, or take the Bx19 bus. More on that here.
