Subway and rail service changes: May 19-22

There are service changes on the subway, LIRR, and Metro-North this weekend. Here’s how that will affect how you get around.

The weekend is almost here, so let's hit the ground running! 🏃

If you're participating in the Brooklyn Half Marathon on Saturday, keep in mind that trains won't be running at Eastern Pkwy-Brooklyn Museum   station from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. Use Grand Army Plaza (Manhattan-bound service only) or Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College instead.

Here's what else is going on this weekend (also viewable as a handy map):

  •  trains aren't running between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 168 St from Friday night to Saturday night
  • Downtown   trains aren't stopping at 14 St
  •  trains aren't running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester
  •  trains are running on the   line between Manhattan and Brooklyn
  •  trains aren't running between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av
  •  trains aren't running between Norwood-205 St and 161 St-Yankee Stadium
  • Manhattan-bound  trains are running on the   line between Queens and Manhattan
  •  trains aren't running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av
  •  trains aren't running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs
  •  trains aren't running at all
  • Brooklyn-bound  trains are running on the   line between Manhattan and Brooklyn

Major subway service changes

 trains, Manhattan and Bronx

 trains are not running between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 168 St in either direction from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 11:59 p.m. Saturday because of station improvement work. Trains will run between 168 St and South Ferry. 

  • Free shuttle buses are running along three routes:
    • On Broadway between Van Cortlandt Park-242 St and 215 St, connecting to Inwood-207 St  .
    • On St. Nicholas Av between 191 St and 168 St.
    • Overnight only between Dyckman St   and Dyckman St  . During the day, take the M100.
    • Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  • Consider using nearby   stations as an alternative for service between 207 St and 168 St.

 trains, Manhattan

Downtown   trains are not stopping at 14 St from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday while we make accessibility upgrades.

  • Consider using nearby stations at:
    • 14 St 
    • 18 St 
    • Christopher St 
  • You can also take an uptown   train to 34 St-Penn Station and transfer.
  • Downtown   trains will make local stops from 34 St-Penn Station to Chambers St.

 trains, Bronx

 trains are not running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester in either direction from 3:30 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday because of track replacement work.

  • Free shuttle buses are running between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  •  trains are running between Parkchester and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall.

 trains, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens

 trains are running on the   line between W 4 St-Wash Sq and Jay St-MetroTech in both directions from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • For service to/from Spring St, Canal St, and Chambers St/World Trade Center, take the   train. Transfer between   and   trains at W 4 St-Wash Sq.
  • For service to/from Fulton St, take the   to/from Delancey St-Essex St. Transfer between   and   trains at Delancey St-Essex St.
  • As an alternative for service between Brooklyn and lower Manhattan, take the   between Jay St-MetroTech and Cortlandt St (uptown only). Transfer between  and   trains at Jay St-MetroTech.
  • For service to/from High St, use the nearby York St   station.

 trains are not running between Broad Channel and Far Rockaway-Mott Av in either direction from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • Free shuttle buses are running between Far Rockaway-Mott Av and Beach 67 St, connecting to the   at Beach 90 St  . Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  •  trains are running between Inwood-207 St and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St, replacing   service, and between Inwood-207 St and Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd.

 trains, Bronx

From 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday,   trains are not running between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Norwood-205 St in either direction, and uptown trains aren't stopping at 155 St. This is because of structural maintenance work.

  •  trains are running between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and 161 St-Yankee Stadium.
  • For service to/from 155 St, take a downtown train.
  • For service between 161 St-Yankee Stadium and Bedford Park Blvd, take the  .
  • Norwood-205 St is connected by a free D90 shuttle bus to Mosholu Pkwy  . Transfer between the   and the   at 161 St-Yankee Stadium.

 trains, Manhattan and Queens

Manhattan-bound  trains are running on the   line from Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av to W 4 St-Wash Sq from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of electrical work. 

  • Free overnight shuttle buses are running between Court Sq-23 St, 21 St-Queensbridge, and Queens Plaza.
  • For service to/from Queens Plaza during the day, take the  . Overnight, use the nearby Queensboro Plaza   station. 
  • For service to/from Court Sq-23 St, take the 
  • For service to/from Lexington Av/53 St, take the   and use the free out-of-system walking transfer at Lexington Av/63 St. 
  • For service to/from 5 Av/53 St, use nearby   stations at 57 St or 47-50 St-Rockefeller Ctr. 
  • For service to/from 7 Av, take the 
  • For service to/from 50 St, 42 St-Port Authority Bus Terminal, 34 St-Penn Station, 23 St, or 14 St, take the   or use nearby   stations along Sixth Av.

 trains, Brooklyn

 trains are not running between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of signal modernization work.  

  • For service to/from stations between Church Av and Coney Island-Stillwell Av, use local buses or nearby   and   stations.
  •  trains are running between Jamaica-179 St and Church Av.

 trains, Brooklyn and Queens

trains are not running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs in either direction from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of structural maintenance.

  • Free shuttle buses are running between Court Sq and Bedford-Nostrand Avs. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  •  trains are running between Bedford-Nostrand Avs and Church Av.

 trains aren't running at all from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track replacement work.

  • Free M90 shuttle buses are running between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av. Look for signs outside your station for walking directions to the shuttle bus stop.
  • For service between Myrtle Av and Delancey St-Essex St, take the  .
  • Reminder: On weekends,   trains don't run in Midtown or along Queens Blvd. Take the   instead.

 trains, Manhattan and Brooklyn

From 11:15 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, downtown  trains will not stop at City Hall, Cortlandt St, Rector St, Whitehall St, Court St, and Jay St-MetroTech because of station improvement work.

  • Downtown  trains are running on the   from Canal St to DeKalb Av.
  • Overnight,   trains are only running between Bay Ridge-95 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, the last stop. Trains will run express between 36 St and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr. For service to/from bypassed stations, take trains.
  • For service to/from Jay St-MetroTech and Court St, use the nearby Borough Hall   station.
  • For service to/from City Hall, Cortlandt St, Rector St, and Whitehall St, use nearby   stations.
  • Reminder: Board   trains on the   platform at Canal St.

Other service changes

 trains, Brooklyn

From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound   trains are running on the express track from Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr to:

  • Franklin Av-Medgar Evers College 
  • Crown Hts-Utica Av 

This is because of station improvement work.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a Manhattan-bound train.
  • Note: Overnight, when   trains normally run local, they'll run express instead.
  • Reminder:   trains don't run in Brooklyn on weekends.

 trains, Bronx

Manhattan-bound   trains are not stopping at 138 St-Grand Concourse from 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of accessibility improvement work.

  • For service to/from 138 St-Grand Concourse, take the 
  • Overnights, take a Woodlawn-bound  train and transfer.

Uptown   trains are running on the express track from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 34 St-Herald Sq from 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • For service to/from bypassed stations, take a downtown train.

Long Island Rail Road service changes

Far Rockaway Branch

Trains are not running between Valley Stream and Far Rockaway in either direction from 10:30 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Monday because of track maintenance.

  • Buses are running between Valley Stream and Far Rockaway.
  • Trains are running between Penn Station and Valley Stream, on an adjusted schedule.

Metro-North Railroad service changes

Pascack Valley Line

Trains are not running between Spring Valley and Secaucus Junction in either direction on Saturday and Sunday because of maintenance work.

  • Buses are running between Spring Valley and Secaucus, along two routes:
    • Express between Spring Valley and Secaucus, stopping at Nanuet and Pearl River until 9 p.m. daily.
    • Local, making all stops between Spring Valley and Secaucus all day.
