The new LIRR service to Manhattan’s east side is the most transformative change to Long Island Rail Road service in over a century. There are more trains running during peak hours and better reverse commuting options to Long Island. Two new tunnels between Manhattan and Queens have increased train capacity to and from New York City by 50% and will improve reliability.
