We’ve invested in the 8 Av Line Signal Modernization project—an initiative which will solve the ongoing delays caused by old signals along the line by fully replacing them with modern signaling. This will provide enhancements to service on the
lines when the Signal Modernization project is complete. Here’s what you need to know about what we’re doing, how to use alternate service options as you commute, and the service improvements we expect when the project is done.
Benefits
More reliable transit
The installation of CBTC Signaling on the 8 Av line especially in the Central Business District (CBD) will increase the existing throughput versus the old signal system which is nearing 80 years old. Problems with the old signal system are a leading cause of service disruptions.
More resilient transit
Modern signals will make it possible for us to have more information about where trains are and how they’re performing. Installing modern signaling means that if there are problems with the new signals, we’ll be able to troubleshoot and resolve them faster.
